About Winding Hill Stables
Winding Hill Stables has always been about more than riding horses.
For Victor and Christy Salant, the goal has been to create a place where riders can learn real horsemanship, build confidence, develop meaningful relationships with horses, and feel like part of a barn family.
Christy brings decades of experience teaching, training, coaching and developing riders. Her approach combines strong fundamentals with an understanding that every rider—and every horse—is different. Whether someone is sitting on a horse for the first time or preparing to step into the show ring, the focus remains the same: safe, thoughtful horsemanship and steady progress.
Victor works behind the scenes—and often everywhere else—to help keep Winding Hill moving forward, combining a lifelong involvement with horses with more than 35 years of experience in the veterinary and animal-health industries.
An equally important part of Winding Hill is our barn manager, Marie. She oversees the day-to-day care of our horses and takes tremendous pride in their health, comfort and well-being. Her attention to detail and genuine concern for every horse in the barn help make Winding Hill the kind of place where owners and riders can feel confident their horses are being cared for as individuals.
Together, our team has built Winding Hill around a simple philosophy: take care of the horses, teach people well, and create an environment where riders can grow.
Our program includes private riding lessons, horse showing, leasing, boarding and opportunities for riders who want to become more involved in every part of the horse world.
Some riders come to Winding Hill because they want to compete. Others ride because horses were once an important part of their lives and they want that feeling back. Some are children just beginning a lifelong journey with horses.
There is room here for all of them.

This beautiful, seasoned princess has been an asset to our program for over 10 years. Kind and dependable, Posh is a safe mount for our emerging riders.
She has competed in everything from Leadline through the pony hunters and has participated in many a costume class over the years.
She is looking forward to meeting the next group of future equestrians at Winding Hill Stables in Florida.

BEFORE YOUR FIRST VISIT
A little preparation.
A better first ride.
What should I wear?
Wear paddock boots with a flat sole and small heel, comfortable riding pants or fitted long pants, and a certified riding helmet. Ask us about equipment before your first lesson.
Can I book just one lesson?
We offer lesson packages rather than single lessons. The introductory package includes three private, 30-minute lessons. Contact us for pricing and availability.
Do adults need previous experience?
No. Adult beginners and riders returning after a break are welcome. Tell us about your experience and goals so we can discuss the right starting point.
What about winter or bad weather?
Our outdoor arena has lighting for after-school and after-work riding. Contact us about weather-related scheduling and the current winter riding location before booking.
Where do I park for my lesson?
Arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled lesson. Park outside the gates on Bread and Cheese Hollow Road or Middleville Road where permitted, then walk to the side of the barn by the single gate.
