Whether you are getting on a horse for the first time, returning after years away, or working toward a show, Winding Hill Stables offers individual instruction for children and adults. Our Northport barn serves riders in Fort Salonga and the surrounding Long Island community. Lessons develop balance, position, control, and confidence, with hunter, jumper, and equitation instruction for riders ready to progress.
Lesson packages and scheduling
Lessons are private and 30 minutes long, scheduled by appointment. Begin with a package of three introductory lessons or continue with a five-lesson package. Single lessons are not available. Contact us for current pricing and available times. Share the rider’s age, experience, goals, and preferred days so we can discuss a suitable starting point.
Children, adults, and returning riders
Children are welcome from age four. Adult beginners and returning riders work at a pace suited to their experience. Experienced school horses and ponies support the lesson program. Learn about children’s lessons or explore adult riding lessons.
Before your first lesson
Wear paddock boots with a flat sole and small heel, fitted long pants or riding pants, and a certified riding helmet. Ask us about equipment before arriving.
